First Time Pitching (click on this title for video)

I'm a little behind on my blog (a kid my age is pretty busy) but we won our game against Ashland 25-11. And here's my game against Westborough. It was my last game of the regular season. The first inning, I was on deck when we mercied them. We have a 5 run limit each inning. So I had to take off my batting helmet and get the catcher's stuff on.

In the top of the 4th inning, we were up 7-4 with Aidan on first and me on second. Louie hit the ball to 2nd base and got Aidan out running to 2nd. I rounded 3rd and went home and I got out at home. That was 3 outs. I ran out to the mound. I was pitching for the first time in my life. Strike one. My first pitch ever was a strike. Strike two. Ball one. Ball two. Strike three. Batter out! I struck out the first batter I had ever faced.

I pitched for 2 innings and in those 2 innings, I pitched 33 strikes and 15 balls. The final score was 17 - 13. Southborough wins! Stay tuned for our playoff games later this week.

  1. 33 STRIKES! Excellent! Sounds like your first time pitching was quite a success. The video was fabulous. You should definitely thank your fine videographer!

It looks like Southborough is going into the playoffs with quite a reputation as the team to beat. No matter how the playoffs turn out, your team has had an amazing season.

Rest up that arm for later this week! Good luck in your next game!

  2. Jeffrey,

The video was fantastic! Congratulations on your first time on the mound and for getting back your hitting groove. We're hoping that your first playoff game goes well so we can see you play on Saturday. If not, we'll just enjoy the day in Southborough.

While all the players on your team looked pretty spiffy in the red, white and blue uniforms, your coaches looked a little sloppy. They appeared to be wearing the nice blue coach shirts, but their shorts of were of different styles and colors. Also the shoes were not standardized. Maybe the head coach could get his act together before the playoffs begin and take the coaching staff on a shopping trip to get nice dress khaki shorts for all (not the kind with the messy big pockets that the teenagers wear) and some coordinating shoes and socks. Or you could suggest they order monogrammed plaid shorts from Lands End and have them express shipped. Either way, encourage then to do something, because they are bringing the whole team down.

  3. Jeffrey,

Your team has been doing well and it sounds like you're a good pitcher too. What is your team's record?

  5. "V" is definitely for VICTORY when you have a pitcher like #19. I can't wait to hear about playoffs.

Maybe when you are in Iowa, you could try to strike me out????????

    See you soon, Dawn
