Pitching in the Northborough Tournament Against Northborough B Team

We are now in the Northborough Tournament. We won our last 3 games to get into the semifinals. We played yesterday against Northborough A. We were away so we batted first. Jack Ba started off with a single. Daniel hit a single. Aidan struck out. Jack Br hit a single. Patrick hit it to the shortstop who made an error. Louis hit a double. Greg struck out and Connor struck out. 3 outs and we are ahead 4-0. Good start.

My first time at bat, I hit it over the shortstops head and got a single. My second time at bat, I walked. Tommy hit a triple that I scored on. My third time, I popped out to the pitcher.

How is this game going?

Bottom of the 6th inning, 2 outs man on 1st, Jack Br pitching. We're up 11-2. The first pitch, strike 1. The second pitch, strike 2. The next pitch, ball 1. The batter hits the next pitch right back to Jack Br pitching and he catches it. 3 outs. Southborough wins 11-2! Off to the championship against Holden Wednesday night under the lights.

A Very Close Game

Yesterday's game was an intense game against Sturbridge. We were away so we batted first. We didn't score any runs in the first inning. Neither did they. In the second inning, I got hit by a pitch in my helmet. No runs scored. They scored 1 run. In the third inning we scored 4 runs and I hit one to 2nd base and they got me out at first. We took the lead 4-1. They didn't score that inning.

In the fourth inning we scored 0 runs and that inning was a disaster. We let up 4 runs off errors!

This game is not going as well as I had hoped

In the fifth inning, we scored 1 run. They scored 1 run. 6-5 Sturbridge. I hit a grounder to the 2nd baseman in the top of the 6th inning and got thrown out. Nolan hit a single and then stole 2nd. Jake struck out. Patrick got up to bat with 2 outs, man on 2nd. Patrick hit a single and Nolan scored from 2nd! Daniel walked, Aidan walked... bases loaded. Jack Br flew out to Center Field. Game tied 6-6.

Sturbridge is up and loads the bases with zero outs. My dad takes Aidan out and puts me in. I strike out the next batter. 1 out, bases loaded. I pitch a strike right down the middle. The batter hits it to me and I throw him out at home. 2 outs, bases loaded. I throw the ball. He hits it all the way to the fence. Safe at home. Sturbridge wins and advances to the championship game. We play Grafton on Saturday for 3rd place.

Webster Tournament - Off to a Good Start

Now we're in the Webster Tournament. Saturday we played Spencer. My first at bat I hit it over 2nd base into shallow Center Field. I ended up with a single. My second at bat I hit it into shallow left field for another single. My third time I grounded out to the pitcher. Southborough wins 13-0.

Yesterday we played Shrewsbury. My first time at bat I struck out. My second time I bunted and I got out. My third time I hit it to short stop and he threw it to 2nd and got Jack Br out at 2nd for the 3rd out. When I was catching they hit a pop fly and I caught it.

At the bottom of the last inning, we were up 8-6, 2 outs, man on 2nd. The batter hit it into Center Field. Jack Br picked it up and fired it home to Greg who tagged the runner out. Amazing way to end the game! Southborough wins 8-6.

Lost in the Semifinals

Two Sundays ago, my team played in the semifinals of the Shrewsbury Tournament. Our team lost 5-1 against a very strong Auburn team. Auburn went on to win the tournament. Now we are in the Webster District Tournament.

Saturday we had our 3rd baseball game. We played Liecester. We started out in the field. Greg was pitching. The first guy walked. The second batter walked. The third guy hit a single and the guy on 2nd ran to 3rd and tried to go home and we got him. The fourth batter hit a single. Bases loaded, 1 out. The fifth hitter struck out. 2 outs, bases loaded. The next guy strikes out.

My first at bat I popped out to the pitcher. My next time at bat, I struck out. I was pitching in the 3rd inning. My first batter hit a single. My second batter hit a single. My third batter hit it into center field and Louis dropped it. I struck out my fourth batter. My fifth batter hit the ball to 2nd base and we got the base runner out at 2nd. I struck out my 6th batter. Overall, I pitched 17 strikes and 6 balls. I think I pitched accurately but they were able to hit me. It's better than walking people since I have good defense behind me.

Final score: Southborough - 7 Liecester - 8. Off to the semifinals.

Yesterday was our 2nd game in the Shrewsbury Tournament. We were playing Dudley. They're a good team because they beat Leicester 15-1. Since we were home, we got to field first. I was catching. The first batter struck out. The second guy walked. The third player struck out. The fourth guy flew out to shortstop. That was the end of the top of the 1st inning.

We were batting now. Louis hit a double. Daniel hit a double. Connor walked. Bases loaded. Aidan got up. He walked. Greg walked. Patrick struck out. I'm up with bases loaded. I hit not far over the 2nd baseman's head. He ran back, picked up the ball and threw Greg out at 2nd. They threw the ball home and I ran to 2nd. Two runs scored. We got 5 runs that inning.

I only got up to bat 2 times. The 2nd time up I hit it right behind the 2nd baseman's head and he made a good play and caught it.

The final score: Southborough - 11 Dudley - 3. Southborough wins! So far my summer batting average is .250 and I have 4 RBIs. Our team is off to a good start.

Waiting for Bumper Boats and Kimball Farms

On Thursday my cousins, Keian and Kasen came to my house from Iowa. On Friday we went to Kimball Farms. On Saturday we went to the pool. On Sunday we went into Boston and went on a Duck Boat.

The British are coming!

Yesterday we went to the beach. It was amazing! One time a wave was a bout 7 feet above sea level and the wave broke right on top of me and I rode it all the way to shore. What was weird was that there was a wave behind that and it hit the closer wave and made it bigger. Also, Liam dropped his sandwich and a seagull picked it up and and then we dropped pieces of bread and the seagulls came down and ate them. That was the best day so far with my cousins here.

Off to a Good Start

Number 19 again.

Yesterday I had my first summer baseball game this year. We played Joe Schwartz (Shworts) Baseball Academy. Before the game I thought they might be better than us because they were kind of like an AAU team. So I got to the game and started warming up. Before the game started my dad (coach) did what he always does - post the batting order and where we're playing. The batting order went like this: Louis, Daniel, Connor, Aidan, Greg, Patrick, Jeffrey, Jack Br., Nolan, Jake, and Jack Ba.

When the game started, Louis struck out. I was so worried then. One of our top hitters struck out. Then Daniel walked. Connor walked. Then Aidan got hit with the pitch. Bases loaded. Greg smacks a foul ball out into right field. The right fielder caught it but he wasn't ready and Daniel tagged up and went home. Then it was Patrick's turn to bat. He hit a double. Then it's my turn to bat. I hit one over the 2nd baseman's head. I round 1st. The 2nd baseman throws home. I go to 2nd. It goes past the catcher and I try to get to 3rd but got thrown out. That was 3 outs but it was not a force play so the runs counted! I was feeling good then. It was my first time up to the plate. I smash a double, almost a triple.

Then I had to get the catcher's stuff on. That inning I didn't let a ball get past me and they weren't all thrown right to my glove. The next inning I was catching. I only let 1 ball get past me. But there was no one on base so it didn't matter. There were no steals on me. Those were the exciting innings. The final score: Joe Schwartz Baseball Academy - 0 Southborough Americans - 10. That's good. In our first game we shut the other team out.

P.S. My batting average is .500 now and I have 2 RBIs.

Gearing up for game 1

During this season we will have 3 tournaments: the Shrewbury tournament, the Webster Distict tournament, and the Northborough tournament. Our first game is tommorow. We have had a lot of rain and some practices were canceled. Yesterday we had a 3 hour practice! In the beginning of practice we had a guy at home plate a guy at 1st base a guy at 2nd base and a guy at 3rd base and we threw it around the diamond. Also at the end of practice we had a home run derby. I was so close to hitting it over the fence. I hit the fence in he air but it didn't go over.

Summer Baseball

A couple of weeks ago my spring baseball season ended. I wasn't done though because I had a whole season ahead of me. It was summer baseball. 1 week ago my summer team started practicing. We are a good team again this year. The kids on my team are Tommy, Patrick, Greg, Connor, Aidan, Jake, Nolan, Jack Br., Jack Ba., Daniel, Louis, and me. I practiced a lot and got a lot better at hitting and pitching. Now that school is over I'll have more time to update my blog and tell you more about summer baseball. PLAY BALL!
